Missing net35bin

Postby tom.frey » Wed Oct 07, 2009 9:55 am

Hi,

I've sent support an email last week but haven't heard back, so I hope someone can answer my question here:

I'm running Installaware on Windows 2008 x64 machine and try to make a Web Deploy install package that includes all .NET framework elements >= v2.0

In the Application Runtimes dialog I've selected all Microsoft .NET Framework parts.

When I try to build I get:

"No files matching wildcard pattern C:\\PROGRA~2\\INSTAL~2\\INSTAL~1\\runtimes\\net35bin\\*.*"

I checked the folder and it is indeed not there, only the x64 version is there: net35bin_x64

I tried reinstalling installaware and made sure to select all runtimes but same issue.

When I go into Application Runtimes, select Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 and hit Download Runtimes, a browser window opens up and directs me to this forum?

Any advice?

Thanks

Hi Tom.

You should find the .NET Framework 3.5 (32 Bit) in the runtimes folder. It is a 7zip file called net35xbin.7zip.
If you really need the folder you have to extract the files.

Best regards.

Chris,

I do see net35xbin.7zip and net351bin.7zip and if I extract them, the folders are named correspondingly. However, what I do not see is a net35bin.7zip nor a net35bin folder and that's what the Web Deploy packager is asking for.
Should the net35xbin be renamed to net35bin?

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom.

The net35xbin.7zip contains the .NET Framework 3.5 (32 Bit) and the net351bin.7zip contains the .NET Framework 3.5 with Service Pack 1 (32 Bit). So you can extract the one you need and rename the folder.
But I am wondering that this is necessary, because if you have selected Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 in the designer tab (Application Runtimes) and have not changed the script (setupnet35x) InstallAware should find the file.

Best regards.
