Updating only web media blocks

Postby TMacy » Thu Oct 11, 2007 3:06 pm

We have application A, which references web media blocks B and C.

Two weeks later, we want to update media block B, but there is no change required in application A. If I update B (same filename, etc), and the user reruns the original setup for application A, will it detect the updated web media block B and install it?

If not, what do I have to do to get the new B installed on the user's box?

Thanks.

When you build the setup again it will generate a New web media block b and also a new setup.exe, if you plave the new files with the old files when they run the update setup it will uninstall the old product and install the new product. If this is no the desired behavior then you will need to create a patch.

Does a patch cause the rebuild of B? Or does it generate a single .exe that has the updated parts of B?

I belive it creates a single exe with the patches to the files in your installation.
