Hello,
I've created a simple Native setup project that should install+start Windows service. If run normally, service is installed (with some retry dialogs) but when run in debug mode NT service is not installed.
Project is compiled with debug build checkbox.

Re: Bug in Debug mode - service installation
The problem is different:
After checking Debug Build in Project Settings, build process seems to be terminated. It looks like it stops somewhere near "Injected runtime files" (window is closed automatically)
Here's output when "Debug build" is unchecked.

Re: Bug in Debug mode - service installation
Looks like (un)checking "Debug Build" option changes deployment type. Why?? It makes a lot of confusion. User has to be very careful with clicking on build and run buttons. Especially when pressing Run button (It's hard to distinguish) which build (compressed or not) is started.
Can you do something with it? Eg. add hints when Debug build is changed, hints which deployment version is launched.

Re: Bug in Debug mode - service installation
So, is there no real problem? Was it just a matter of confusion over the interface?
You're right, this could be made more clear. We'll see if we can't do something to make this more intuitive.

That's right. If this could be clearer:
-by using hint or popup when checking "Debug build"
-by showing additional information which deployment type is used when building or running the setup.
