Hi StrohMan,
Thanks for the clarification. Sorry but I would not know how to accomplish what you want in IA.

Hi StrohMan,

Well, if you know the main service name, and this one has several dependencies, then when you stop that service, all dependencies should be stop if the main service is configure to do that, otherwise you may need to stop each one after the other.

Hi Tim, You build a small test installer with the features you need and then when you sure it runs fine then add all the files you have with the wildcard. Also, for a speedy test, you may want to disable the compression first. This will help you build a fast (and bigger) setup just for testing. I do...

Hi Paul, As Michael suggested, you may not be clicking the Save button in the toolbar before closing the dialog. One thing I do when modifying the dialogs is to make a copy of the standard dialog using the "Save As" option from the menu and then name that dialog with my company name as the...

Re: Repeated Questions

Just a suggestion, I see many of the same questions asked over and over again, this being one of them (I'm just as guilty as anyone, especially when first started using IA). Maybe you guys should add a new common questions or FAQ's section to the forum. Maybe even make it read only so people can sk...

If you want to patch old product versions to your latest version, you can do two things: 1) What you're currently doing (InstallAware automatically updates the revision code when you do a new build, unless you disable this feature, which is not recommended). The old product version will be removed ...

Hi Martin,

Just to confirm that the Plug-In is working as expected, I am able to get the UNC format for the TARGETDIR variable.

Once again, thanks for sharing this with the community.

Hi Martin, I can not thank you a lot for adding this functionality to your Plug-In. So far I am using the Windows Firewall, which works great! and now will test this UNC which I needed to save the $TARGETDIR$ in UNC format when my application is installed on a network share folder. Once again, thank...

Well, in this case, I would suggest displaying a message to the user know that uninstalling can take a long period so they don't think the computer hang up.

Re: Thats not the answer i wanted

That answer is a bit to easy... I'm already talking with Microsoft about this. Their anwer is to not use the merge module, but install their files myself What I just want to know what other possibilities I have. For example by removing the files by myself on a rollback... I can imagine that I can d...

@Edhy: Why dont you call the Update Setup yourself? You just have to include this line somewhere after "Apply Install" (if its succeeds of course) "Run Program $UNINSTALLLINK$ /updatesetup" (i have put in "if Variable NEEDSUPGRADE Equals FALSE" before, so that the Upda...

Hi,

I really don't know the answer to this, but maybe you could simply rename the resulting .txt file to .sql when the process is done.
