Re: IA X2 Claim to further compress files 30%. Not seeing

Hi Mark, Bottom line; buyer beware on this selling point. It only seems to make a difference if you are using IA's runtimes. Any third party runtimes or partner products you are shipping (we have several) or anything related to Microsoft that you take straight from their servers, will not improve. A...

Re: IA X2 Claim to further compress files 30%. Not seeing

Hi Mike, I went from IA 18 to X2. By default compression I meant what I had before upgrading to X2, see picture and sorry for the confusion. >> I don't use any IA runtimes. Then that is definately a problem, because IA will not compress an already compressed setup or msi. IA, will re-compress or re-...

Re: IA X2 Claim to further compress files 30%. Not seeing

Oh Mike, One thing that Francesco suggested me was to uncheck all my runtimes, remove any old runtime script that may have been left orphaned when unchecking the runtimes from the Designer IDE, then save my script and re-check the runtimes I needed. Building process took a bit longer, but I only bui...

Re: IA X2 Claim to further compress files 30%. Not seeing

Hi All, I understand both position, Francesco and Mike, and sometimes it can be difficult to get a message across for many reasons. Mike, I don't have the time do do the test Francesco was suggesting with .Net 4.6, but I do use .Net 4.5 and after upgrading one of my script today I noticed that the ....

Hi Francesco, Thanks very much for the prompt response, much appreciated!!! I followed your instructions and now I am able to re-build my script, but I have a question about the Runtimes, for example, my application is compiled as 32 bits, but I see a "Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5" and ...

dot Net 4.5 runtines in X2 version?

Hi All, I just upgrade to X2 Studio Admin form IA 18 and now my previous setup fails to build due to not finding the dot net 4.5 runtime. I get this error: Not files matching wildcard pattern D:\PROGRA-2\INSTALL-2\runtimes\netfx_full-x86\*.* In the "Application Runtimes" now I don't see &q...

I need to have the whole file path as in IA like $TARGETDIR$\MyFileName.exe Is this possible? I then want to put that command in the RTM file. I am using IA 9 R2 (...

Re: Customizing Output .EXE name...

You would have to add the version number manually in the project settings every time you build your installer. That is what I have been doing all the time, is there a way to get the version number updated automatically instead of manually enter it? ]You cannot use variables in the output file name....

Customizing Output .EXE name...

Hi all,
Is there a way to add the Product Version to the Output .EXE file so when build the file name will have the Product Version number as part of its name like this:

Re: Forcing writing registry key in 32bit location under 64b

Thanks Michael, that worked! :D The problem was that this DLL is installed in Windows\System32 and changing to 64bit the folder should be Windows\SysWOW64, I added the following command to manually register the dll and it worked: if Variable IS_OS_64_BIT Equals TRUE Comment: If this is x64 OS then u...

Re: Forcing writing registry key in 32bit location under 64b

I think you are asking if you can ask to the native 64 bit location and not the 32 bit compatibility location? Did you use Set x64 Mode to set 64 bit install mode? Hi Michael, First, thanks for the prompt response. You are right, setting x64 Mode to 64 bits give me the desired registry location &qu...
