Re: 32bit vs 64bit
I was reading this post and noticed that 'joakes' said: there are two $TARGETDIR$ folders - $TARGETDIR$ for 64-bit and $TARGETDIR_X86$ for 32-bit. . However, that is not the case in my version of InstallAware (9 R2). What I see under 'Setup Architecture' > 'Files' is just the usual $TARGETDIR$ folde...

Re: Vista 'User Account Control' (UAC) Elevation check-box
Hi Chamsoft, Unfortunately Michael Nesmith of InstallAware never bothered to respond with any help despite additional Private Messages to him. Happily he is no longer with InstallAware, which I believe is a good thing all around. That's more than enough said about that I guess. I simply gave up on t...

Component Manifest
Some years ago when I last used InstallShield, I recall that it would automatically generate a listing (manifest) file of all the application components included in the installation. The list was generated automatically at build time. This was a very handy component listing to have, especially for s...

Hi Andy, I know that you are not a fan of 'nudging', however I think that this post really needs a definitive response from InstallAware. UAC is a topic of confusion and frustration for many folks and some additional instruction would be appreciated by all. Just to summarise the highpoints of the ab...

Yesterday, Nov 26 was the Thanksgiving holiday in the US. All companies are closed. Most people are also off today, Friday the 27th as well. I suspect that you will probably receive a reply from InstallAware come Monday.

Uncheck the 'Run Now' checkbox...
I am sure that the answer is probably staring me in the face, but frustration has set in I can't see the forest for the trees... so, swallowing my pride, here goes... On the 'Finish' dialog there is a 'Run Now' checkbox. When I run my compiled installation, the 'Run $Title$ Now' checkbox is always e...

Thanks for the response Andy, I'm glad to hear that the support centre is going to be used again. With regard to my original .Net2 framework install observation... can you please expand on how to get .Net2 framework to install in Win2k? While I have attempted to do this I have been unsuccessful. The...

Building a Merge Module?
I am hoping the someone can tell me if it is possible to create a Merge Module (msm) with InstallAware. I can't find any information in this forum or in the InstallAware documentation regarding how to create an msm... I have imported an msm into an InstallAware project, but I need to be able to do t...

Installing .Net 2 SP1
Hello, I am creating an installation that requires the .Net 2 framework SP1 and I have noticed that InstallAware's application runtime 'Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 with Service Pack 1' automatically changes InstallAware's 'Minimum Operating System' Application Requirement back to Windows XP. This b...

Server 2008 UAC elevation
In attempting to install my application on a 2008 server, I encountered a 2008 UAC elevation issue and had to disable UAC in order to install our software package. I know that InstallAware supports Vista UAC elevation (Get System Settings > Capability=Vista UAC Elevation), but I don't see any such s...

Hi Pointeman, I encountered the same problem way back when I started on version 5 or 6. Since that point in time I have always renamed my web media blocks to contain no capitalisation, spaces or punctuation. So for example: Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1.7ip would become: microsoft_windows_installe...

Update for Interactive Task option in Schedule Task command?
Hello Michael, In your last post (above) you mentioned: We'll take care of this for you and add a new flag to the Schedule Task command. This was with regard to an update for the behaviour of the Interactive Task option (in the Schedule Task command) when used in XP. Can you please tell me if this u...
