Re: .NET4.0 x86 install failure
I am having the same problem, but don't have a solution. I have tried it on two XP SP3 machines (one physical, one a clean VPC image)... both have the same problem. Also, if I download the MS redist for .Net 4 it install fine, only a problem from the InstallAware setup. It doesn't matter if I do a s...

Re: Web Media Block fail to download
I think I have solved my problem. It seems I had an 'empty' web media block. The WMB was associated with a feature that didn't contain any files, just a registry setting. Since the feature had no files the WMB was empty and didn't get built when the install was built, but it seems the setup program ...

Re: Web Media Block fail to download
Hi,
I am having the same problem... can successfully download the file from the website using the browser, but the install fails to download it.
Does no one have an answer ?
Is there a log file that we can look in to determine error codes etc. for the download ?
BTW... using registered copy if IA9.

Re: Write Registry Persist - plugin (Freeware)
Hi, I desperately need a version of this plugin (or a similar one) that will write dwords to the registry. Specifically, I have similar problem to one of the previous posters... Sql 2005 won't install properly on Windows XP SP3 due to the MSXML component having been made a set of protected system fi...

Thanks. I'll give that a try. I assume you mean show the custom dialog only during the database update ? Otherwise how do I show normal progress text during the rest of the install ? I can understand users being suspicious of long operations, but the progress bar does still move (I assume between ea...

Variables Not Replaced In Sql Script ?
Hi All (again), So I've got my sql scripts executing now, but the scripts that insert default data into my tables aren't working properly. Specifically, the data inserted isn't having variables replaced with their values. For example, in some cases I insert the value $TARGETDIR$\\Installations\\1 in...

Hide Sql Script During Install ?
Hi, When using the MS Sql plug-in to execute a sql script, the install shows the lines of script being executed in the progress label. Since one of my scripts sets up the schema, this isn't good from a security perspective because anyone running the script can get some detailed information about my ...

Solved It
Ok, so after hours of debugging I finally give up and post my problem, then solve it myself 1/2 an hour later ! Typical, eh ? :) Turns out the last time the script was created, it was written as a unicode text file. It wasn't supposed to be, and I didn't realise this had happened. In any case, as so...

Sql Script Doesn't Execute But Function Succeeds
Hi All, I'm having a really strange behaviour with the Microsoft Sql Server Script command. I should mention this command used to work in my existing script, but it has suddenly stopped and I have no idea why. The script command itself uses variables to specify the username, password, server and ins...

Thanks.
Excellent, thanks. I assume you mean editing the script rather than using the GUI, but that's cool - at least I can do what I need to
Thanks again !

Install Service/Website as part of feature
Hi All,
A newbie question I'm afraid
I've been trying to build a complex installing using the GUI in InstallAware, and while I can configure it to install services and/or websites I don't seem to be able to attach a service or website to a particular feature.
Is there anyway to do this ?
