Re: Service Doesn't Get Created
I've unchecked several of the standard dialog boxes that I think are not needed for this setup, such as registration, setuptype, componentstree and destination. Does removing these dialog boxes cause any part of the setup to not run? No, this cannot be the root of your issue, Also because for what ...

Re: install files with wildcards
Dear Alejandro, the command looks correct and I cannot replicate any issue. What you are reporting may depend on your setup script flow and not directly related to the command itself. At any rate, I'm not sure why you are installing something into the $EXEFILEDIR$. This directory may not exist anymo...

Re: Error 170 building MSIX
Dear User, Error 170 occurs when the MSIX compiler cannot finalize the resource content. This may happen when the project includes invalid image or Icon files, or because of inconsistencies with the project localization resources (the target localization language of the source IA project). Error 210...

Re: Getting filename of the setup file itself
I did a try and I don't see any problem with the value returned by the variables; SETUPPATH, SFXFILE, SFXPATH, and GPOPATH. For what I see all these variables work as documented.
However, if you believe there is a problem, please provide a very minimal project that demonstrates the issue.

Re: Empty Error dialog
Dear Victor,
I cannot reproduce any issue. I simply built your project as it is, and it worked as expected when executed from a non administrative account (once elevated, of course).

You may do a try with enabling "When user logs on" or "Run only when user is logged on".

Re: Import setup created in IA IDE into a Visual Studio 2019 Solution
It's not available a built-in method for importing a setup created using the IA IDE into a IA VS Extension setup. This because the IA VS extension cannot load the proprietary project file generated by the IA IDE, but it uses an its own "prjconf" file instead. Of course it's possible to loa...

Re: Check File In-Use
At such purpose you may use the "Is File Locked" command. Is File Locked This command checks whether a given file on the target system can be opened for write operations (including deletes and overwrites). While the setup engine automatically replaces such files (either by renaming them an...

Re: Stop myah15.cpl in C:\Windows\System32
Such files are "just" temporary files generated during the installation process. Typically, these get automatically removed at the first successive system reboot. Obviously such files are necessary for the installation process. If you use "Start Screen/Menu (Windows 8/10 and higher)&q...

Please have a look at the following thread:

Alternatively and instead of a MSI output, I might suggest of producing a self-extracting EXE... nowadays it's a much better choice.

Re: Check for system reboot required?
Dear Pushpraj,
it's not available a built-in method for that.
At any rate you can easily accomplish this by reading such system registry from your setup script using the "Read Registry" command (https://www.installaware.com/mh52/desktop/readregistry.htm).

Re: Change Revision Code automatically
Please Check your Build Settings settings. https://www.installaware.com/mh52/desktop/buildsettings.htm?rhsearch=Revision%20Code&rhsyns=%20 The ' miabuild ' ' /r ' flag overrides the revision code generation specified with the project . However, this doesn't update the revision code value of the ...
