Re: Customizing Component List in Components Tree
SITL, Zip file attached is the sample project. I've touched it using X5 so I hope it will open for you okay on your version of IA. I'm not using anything X5-specific but please don't quote me! The project assumes there will be a folder called C:\Temp in which a features text file is written to and r...

Re: Components tree
SITL, let me see if I understand what you have in mind. You display the dialog where you select/deselect your components. If you have components A, B, C and you deselect all components the total required space might be 0? If you select components B and C you might want to see something like 19488 di...

Re: Customizing Component List in Components Tree
Let me clean it up a little and I'll post a 7z file later on. It's not a difficult sample project, just bear in mind that it's scope is limited to testing the preserved state of feature selections and it's not necessarily the best solution but it works all the same.

Re: Customizing Component List in Components Tree
SITL, Before I do, let me make sure you're happy with what my test project does. Let me explain. It doesn't install anything! What it does is demonstrate how you load a text file containing what features were previously selected. That is, if you have features called 1, 2 and 3 and deselect feature 2...

Re: Is there a built-in finction to modify text files
I'm not sure if this helps or not but I've attached a sample project I cobbled together that might help to some extent. Unzip the file. You'll see an IA project called 11111... You'll also see a text file called TestFile.txt. Copy it to C:\Temp. Change the path in the IA project if you want to put i...

Re: How to detect if a Microsoft KB update is installed.
Good morning, MDA. Adter a bit of research I started off looking at my Win 7 (64-bit) registry and I searched for a particular KB which I found. The only problem is that the KB name was embedded in some nasty looking keys and I'm reluctant to suggest it as as a viable solution but it's do-able...jus...

Re: Animation during Next/Back
Of course! There's a pre-defined variable called FX. You'll find it in the F1 help (search for pre-defined variables). You can choose different effects or disable it entirely.
Edit: I forgot to add there are two other related pre-defined variables called FXGROUND and FXTIME.

Re: X5 Multiple Questions
I get the result NO$VALUE as well. I put a message box inside the "if" and it's being displayed. However, when I display the JAVA_CHECK variable, it displays NO$KEY but inside the "if" you have checks for 1.6, 1.7 and 1.8 but there's no other check for anything else. That would g...

Re: Copy OR Move Commands
SITL, I, like Francesco, am also puzzled with your problem. I have never had a problem using Copy/Move. Can I ask you to try something? Can you put some message boxes in your code and display the value of all the variables you reference in your Copy/Move statement and tell us what the directory and ...

Re: Copy OR Move Commands
I'll try and test your code later. To recap, then, you want to copy files at the beginning knowing you've done what you want to do prior to running the Apply Install. In that case, have you considered or tried using the native engine setting in the script? Enable it before you do the copy and disabl...

Re: Copy OR Move Commands
SITL, The copy/move command is in the (by default) purple command list and they get stacked/sequenced for execution but only get executed when Apply Install executes. Placing it after the Apply Install could explain why it isn't "working". Try placing it before the Apply Install command. D...

Re: XML Editing seems not to work
If you want instant gratification you can set the native engine mode variable to true. That'll ensure it gets executed immediately when it's encountered. Unless you've changed the IDE colours you can see what gets deferred to the apply install; that is, deferred statements are coloured purple. There...

Re: X5 Studio crashes when loading large SQL scripts
I experienced the same effect. I created a text file containing about 10MB-worth of nothing but SQL comments. It took a few seconds to load it in the dialog and clicking the OK button caused my IDE to freeze. I then reduced the text file by about half its original size and it still froze the IDE. Li...
