Thanks Fransesco. I'm probably just stuck in XP mindset, but I would prefer the installer to choose whichever dir he wants to. I will consider your suggestion for Win 7 users.

Re: UAC Elevation Clarification
Hi Gene
Have you solved your problem yet? I'm having exactly the same problem with writing data files and updating an ini file. I specifically want ALL users to access the same data and ini file.
Thanks
Piet

Re: Override ARP dialog entries in IA11
Hi Francesco
It works like a charm! (I set NATIVE_ENGINE outside the full set of "if/end"s I wanted to do, i.e. one true and one false only).
I don't suppose there's any way of specifying the Project Options/Output Filename from the script as well, eh?
Many thanks
Piet

Override ARP dialog entries in IA11
Hi I need to create separate installations of the same software for different clients, each of whom wants his own Publisher name, Contact name, Help link, etc displayed in the ARP applet. Previously I just created separate projects, but it seems such a waste not to do it in MSI code. I tried somethi...

Re: Re-installing IA8
Dear Aviv
Incredibly, yes, it did solve the problem. I have a meeting tomorrow with another developer from my organization who's considering updating her setup software and I just may try and convince her to switch to InstallAware, purely based on your diligence.
Thanks again

Re: Re-installing IA8
Hi Aviv I'm finally back to my original problem where at the end of the build process I get the error message: . . Created Windows Installer database Error during build: Cannot open file "C:\Program Files\InstallAware\InstallAware 8\interop\ulteriormiastub.exe". The process cannot access t...

Re: Re-installing IA8
Hi Aviv It certainly helped - I could now load my project. I have at least three other problems but my home connection is so slow that I can't properly test it. Back in the office on Monday. 1) The password you gave me apparently automatically installs the admin version while my license is for studi...

Re: Re-installing IA8
Hi Aviv In my .mia file mMySQLIDE.dll\mMySQLExec.dll is listed after the MySQL scripts that I run during the installation. This plug-in allows me to enter the server, port, user, password, and script to run. CheckFilename gives the following: File : mMySQLExec.dll Link ImagePath : %programfiles%\ins...

Re: Re-installing IA8
Thanks a lot Aviv, I understand the problem you had. I'm up and running again except that in the process I've lost the MySQL plug-in without which I cannot even load my current project. I would really appreciate it if someone could post a link from where I can download it anew.
Thanks again

Re-installing IA8
My IA8 suddenly started giving a build error because of a problem with ulteriormiastub.exe. I tried all possible solutions from an earlier thread on a similar bug, but without success. The last option I tried was to un-install and re-install (yeah, right). I ran InstallAware_8.exe but one apprently ...

I have tried with a fresh Basic Setup and got the same results. Only change to basic setup was to modify Targetdir section: [compiler if Variable BUILDMODE not Equals PATCH] Comment: First Time Install Set Variable TARGETDIR to $PROGRAMFILES$\\MyCompany\\MyApp Set Variable STARTMENU to MyApp [compil...

Thanks for the quick response, Michael. I've added messages as per your suggestion, one just before the Welcome dialog and one just before Apply patch: [compiler if Variable BUILDMODE Equals PATCH] MessageBox: Patch. Before apply, Startmenu: STARTMENU$$NEWLINE$Targetdir: $TARGETDIR$ Apply Patch (get...

Patch installs dual copy
I've seen a similar (abandoned) thread without the problem being resolved, so I'm starting this one from scratch. I use IA8 Studio and cannot get a patch to use the same install dir and startmenu shortcut as the original installation. My modified version of the template: [compiler if Variable BUILDM...
