Re: Windows 7 - Unable to uninstall old version of [MY PRODU

I'd be happy to send it, but I just worked around it like someone else did here: Instead of checking the "64 bit operating system" box in the "Special Requirements" section of the "Application Requirements" tab, I forced it into 64 bit mode in the "Define Setup Glo...

Re: Authenticode

Thanks for the reply, but the certificate is brand new. One step in those instructions however didn't work. On this line: openssl rsa -in MyKeyTmp.pem -outform PVK -pvk-strong -out MyCert.pvk -pvk-strong was an unknown argument, so I removed it and it worked. But as I mentioned InstallAware didn't l...

Re: Authenticode

I followed those directions to convert my .p12 (same as .pfx) cert to a .spc and .pvk file and InstallAware gives a generic error when it gets to the code-signing part and won't continue.

What am I missing?

Re: Windows 7 - Unable to uninstall old version of [MY PRODU

This didn't help for me. I'm currently stuck in this same situation. I have a 64 bit installer running on Windows 7 x64. When I run the new installer, I get this same message: Unable to uninstall old version of ProductName. Please uninstall it yourself using Control Panel Add-Remove Programs before ...

Nevermind - it looks right when running on a Japanese-locale system.

Too bad Installaware isn't Unicode.

Actually, I think the file I received is SHIFT-JIS encoded, which might be right. I dropped into into Firefox and set it to view as SHIFT-JIS and it "looks" right. However, when viewing it on my English system within the installer, it looks wrong. Could it be that it will look "right&...

Proper encoding of Japanese translation?

I have a translations.Japanese file that was sent to me UTF8 encoded, which doesn't work. Can someone tell me what Windows codepage Installaware expects, and possibly how to transcode my file to the proper codepage?

Found it. The translators missed a couple of strings at the end of the non-English files.

BTW - what encoding do the strings need to be in?

Tried that - this time I checked off all 5, including English. It asked me if I wanted to replace my previous translations, which I did.

Same error.

Ok, I had originally exported all my strings using the translation wizard - I sent those off to the translator, who returned them translated (French, Spanish, German, Japanese). They also translated my license file. I used the wizard to import the new translations. I renamed the license files as you...

Aha, indeed the info was there - silly me!

After importing my translations and hooking up my license files, if I select a non-English language, I get this error:

Runtime error in setup script:
Line 50: List index out of bounds (407)

Any idea what that means?

translation of EULA, and testing localized installers?

This is my first localized installer - I have translations for 5 different languages. But I don't see anything in the documentation about how to do the different translations of the EULA or Readme. Also, I'd like to run the installer "in French mode" for example to make sure all the string...

Looking for installer consultant

We'd like to look into getting help with a non-trivial installer setup. We make Photoshop plugins, and we'd like the installer to automatically find multiple installed copies of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements and present them to the user as a menu. The user should be able to check off the ones the...

I had to manually delete the control entirely to get it to go away. Surprised there isn't a more user-friendly way of disabling it.

installing payload into multiple locations?

I am working on an installer for a Photoshop plugin. Instead of having a fixed location to install my binaries, I'd like to offer a menu of available compatible Photoshop installations (Photoshop 7, CS1, CS2, CS3, Elements, etc - I can get the list by looking at the registry) and allow the user to c...
