Web Media Blocks
I resolved this in two ways... 1) I'm using ftp://... for my URL, as we could grab the .7zip files from our ftp site, but not from our www site. 2) I've selected *.7zip names that have no embedded spaces. For web media blocks that we create, this was easy. For the standard ones like .Net, I built on...

Purchased V7...
There were two features that convinced us to upgrade to V7. However, I cannot make them work. Looking for what we're doing wrong. We wanted to install into the GAC, and register for COM interop simultaneously. I don't see that using Install Assembly will cause a registration for COM Interop. But, I ...

Web based
Ok... So there really isn't an option to distribute the original product on a CD and us a patch to update it? Or... if you put a web-based install onto a CD, that will still accomplish the same thing?

Patches -- Source files location?
Ok... I created a 1.3.0.0 full install a month ago, and installed it on a clean machine. I have done more development and now have a 1.3.0.5 full install. In that install, I told it to build a patch against 1.3.0.0. That took a really long time. Should it? I ran the 1.3.0.5 patch on the machine wher...

Patching features
I have questions on two scenarios: We've built a setup with features that user can optionally select. Feature A has 15 files. A month later, we have modified one of those 15 files. We want to build a patch. So, as I understand it, the patch will detect the changed file, right? What happens when a us...

Maintenance
Uh... we put CD's out every quarter. We have an unbelievable number of customers that "loose" their most current CD... and then think the need to reinstall, so will try to use an older CD. Maybe you have customers that have a valid reason to install an older version. Ours just do it by mis...

Got a reply
I got a reply yesterday for the cost to upgrade to 7.0. As I need it to get two features that otherwise leave me dead in the water, I dropped my request for 6.6 I'll decide to go with 7.0, or walk away.

Experience
I posted here a month and a half ago. No response. I've left three voice mails for sales, while calling during the middle of the day (normal business hours). And I've left three e-mails to sales.
Based upon my personal experience, he is out of luck.

You are out of luck. I've been asking for the latest 6.* for over two months. I was involved in another project for the two or three week window where they were pushing the 7.0 upgrade and didn't take the time to try to get my free upgrade to 6.6. I didn't realize that once 7.0 came out, your access...

Path?
Does a patch cause the rebuild of B? Or does it generate a single .exe that has the updated parts of B?

Excellent
If you can answer my other e-mailed support questions, then it looks like I'll have a reason to update to 7 and stay with InstallAware.
Thanks!

Updating only web media blocks
We have application A, which references web media blocks B and C. Two weeks later, we want to update media block B, but there is no change required in application A. If I update B (same filename, etc), and the user reruns the original setup for application A, will it detect the updated web media blo...
