Re: Authenticode
I'm currently signing my compressed single-file installer externally with signcode because I only have a .pfx file. This works just fine. However I've noticed that after using the signed installer, the CACHED copy - used by the Start menu uninstall shortcut created by IA - is NOT SIGNED. I imagine t...

Issues with admin privs/Run as Administrator
Hello, I have an IA 9 installer that requires admin privs, and which uses "Run Program." On vista/win7 some "Run Program" calls fail due to insufficient privs UNLESS the user launches the installer using "Run as Administrator." In both the success and failure cases the ...

Canceling SQL 2005 prereq install hangs installer
Hello, If "Cancel" is clicked and confirmed ("Are you sure...") while the SQL 2005 prereq is being installed, the install neither completes nor terminates. The prereq progress dialog just continues on indefinitely (I let it run for a hour). This is not the behavior I would expect...

bokkie, Thanks for the reply. Yes, hacking the registry works to prevent an app from appearing in ARP; I hadn't thought of doing that so your suggestion was very helpful. Strangely, the key you need to delete is NOT the one named after the Package GUID, but rather the name of the product itself. I s...

ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT Property: How do I set it?
Hello, I'd like to set the ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT MSI configuration property for some of my IA projects. I have been unsuccessful trying to set it from the cmd line (setup.exe ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT=1) or in MSICode (Set VARIABLE ARPSYSTEMCOMPONENT to 1). I'd rather not have to use Orca or call MsiSetProper...

Requiring at least one feature in componentstree?
Hello,
I would like to disable the "Next" button in the componentstree dialog if no features have been selected. I can't see how I can do that using the component properties available in the rule builder of the dialog editor.
Suggestions?
Keith

Cross-package notification of install state?
OK, I have a main installer whose features are installed by IA installers added as Creatives. This works OK as long as the main installer is used to modify/uninstall the features. If, however, a feature is removed/uninstalled using Add/Remove Programs (remember it has its own installer) the main ins...

Features installed by sub-installers, space required?
OK, [IA 6.5 on Win7 x64] I have a main installer whose features are installed by sub-installers added as Creatives. On the whole this works pretty good. However, when selecting what features to install the "Space Required" information is blank, zero, or a garbled string (which I think is a...

Creatives: can they be dynamically linked?
Hello, [Using IA 6.5 on Win7] Here's the situation: I have two files (other IA installers) that I include as Creatives in a top-level project, and all are under active development. But when you add Creatives they are copied into the IA project directory immediately and are never updated unless you r...
