Re: Unknown publisher on Windows 7
Hi Daniel, I'm not even sure those EXEs are used - but irrespective they are obsolete. miacert.exe appears to be the signing app? I've had a similar problem in the past with Comodo and it was due to the certificate chain (root and/or intermediates) as a result of extensions being present that the si...

Re: Signed Installer Cert Not Recognised
Hi there, Thanks for pointing out that post. I left a note for Daniel. As per his comments - the method used to sign the installer is deprecated. Microsoft replaced signcode with signtool in 2003. How can we replace the underlaying version of the signing tools? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar...

Re: Unknown publisher on Windows 7
Hi Daniel, I'm having the identical problem. I manually sign with a recent version of SignTool and all is OK - however, if I sign during the IA install build process the cert is not recognised. I've only started to encounter this problem since moving to IA10 and getting my Authenticode cert updated ...

Signed Installer Cert Not Recognised
Hello, IA Studio v10 Mooya.rtm.51110. We use a Versign authenticode cert to sign the installer. When run under Win7 the installer asks to elevate but the cert injected into installer is not recognised (and hence the Verified Publisher notification is not displayed). I've checked the installer and th...

Re: Size of VC 2010 C++ Runtime 7zip
Answering my own question ... the MS VC 2010 Runtime contains every language hence its size. I presume it's safe to strip back that runtime to just US English only? What files should get removed? (Sorry not done this before).

Size of VC 2010 C++ Runtime 7zip
Hi there, I notice that the size of the web media block 7zips for VC++ 2010 Runtime for x86 and x64 are ~10MB. Why the size disparity with the MS downloaded versions of the runtime which are about half that? Is there any way to trim their size? http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?Fami...

Re: Silent install fails on Windows 7 x64 machine.
Hi there, I've just experienced the same error on Win7 x64 Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x8007007F Apparently that error means: ERROR_PROC_NOT_FOUND if this is to be believed: http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/wuc.htm I was using the IA9. There was a dependency in my installer that require...

\"Replaying\" Settings During Silent Install with MSI or EXE
I'm trying to find out how I can pass values to the installer during silent installation that override the installation defaults. For example, installation directory, various answers in dialogs and so forth allowing me to customise a silent install. Can I create an "answer file" and supply...

DEP Update
Hi all, I posted here some time back about detecting whether DEP is active or not: http://www.installaware.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2459 The correct method to work around DEP is to correctly link your app to make it DEP compliant and _NOT_ make updates to the registry to exclude your app from DEP c...

Server 2008 Detection?
I asked a few months back about Server 2008 detection.
It was released to manufacturing today - please can someone advise me whether IA Studio v7.5 SP1 has the facility to detect this OS version.
TIA,
James
