And to set this I just put a Set Variable CODEPAGE to 65001 at the top of the install Script? Pre-Defined Compiler Variables CODEPAGE: If unspecified, the recommended English codepage of 1252 is used. Other suggested values are 65000 for UTF-7 unicode and 65001 for UTF-8 unicode, or 0 for codepage n...

Problem with installation on Japanese since IA9

I've got several installers that won't run on Japanese Windows XP since we upgraded to IA 9. Pre-reqs will run fine, but when it starts processing my files, I get an error that it can't find the temp folder anymore.

Any ideas?

Printer Driver Installation

Has anyone made or heard of a plugin for installing a Printer Driver Instance? I can install the driver by itself with the current driver install, but need to be able to create a driver instance (and subsequently remove it on uninstall).

Nothings locked. I do have anti virus installed, but not actively running. The files are read only, but what's weird is that it will slow down adding files in the middle of a folder that has 50 of the same type of file with the same security settings, etc.

still Slow

I've been having similar problems with IA9. I just updated to 9.0.3 and still see it. The build will be zooming along adding files (all from the local drive) and all of the sudden it will slow to a crawl. The CPU Usage will drop, and the build will slow down to the point where it's adding a file eve...

I did read the white paper. That's what told me to look in the %temp% folder to start with.

Any other Ideas?

Patching

I've created a patch and am attempting to apply it to an installation that was performed using the Compressed Single File installer. I get the prompt for source media, and can't seem to find where it is. I was under the impression that this should be at %temp%\\MIA*.tmp but I have nothing there that...

Attached is a project that demonstrates the issue. I've also included the compiled version for you to try.

Here's the file name that we are using.

Special Characters in file names

I have a setup that has some files with Spanish characters like Ñ. When I run the installer on Russian windows, I get a file not found error for every file that has a special character. It looks like a bug in the installer. Unfortunately its not an easy thing to just change the file name to omit the...

I have an option though that would be dynamic. At one point in the install, the user has to specify a server name. Is there any way for the user to pass that through from the MSI?

MSI Command Line Options

I've used the Group Policy wizard to convert an install into an MSI, and now I need to be able to pass command line options through to the installer. I've set up the command line parsing from the install executable, but don't know how to specify an option for MSIExec. PS, I'm also looking for some i...

The problem is that the user is asked via checkbox at the end of the install to "Reboot now". By then it's too late to write to a file. As far as I know, anything like writing to the registry or a file has to be done prior to the Apply Install action. The decision to restart doesn't occur ...

So If I am reading this correctly, if there is a chance of the install requiring a restart, you shouldn't use the CD Autorun?

Is there anyway around this (besides using something else for the autorun)?
