Re: Left-over registry keys after uninstall

Hi Francois. Further testing with the msi, and yes, when using msiexec to install/uninstall, all registry keys are removed. Using 'Programs & Features' to unistall will not remove all registry items. Odd. Would this be addressed in a future release of InstallAware ? Not all msi's are installed/u...

Left-over registry keys after uninstall

With a weekly loadbuilds, a new build is installed each week. Same product name, but it has a different build version of product key. Our normal process on our test machines is to un-install the previous version and then install the new version. This works as expected....no rocket science here. Howe...

Re: Plugin for Visual Studio 2012

Thanks, that does answer why it's not showing up in VS 2012 on Windows 8.
I appreciate the speedy response.

Re: Plugin for Visual Studio 2012

Hi.

I'm currently using InstallAware 2012 with VS2012, but I'm starting to test with Windows8.
I've tried installing IS2012 several times (as in the posts above), however, on Win8, IA is not showing up in VS2012.
It does with my testing on Win7.

Thoughts ?

Re: miabuild.exe and .msi creation

Thanks Francesco.

I tried the 'MYVERSION', and if I use Orca to look at the msi, the version is set under Properties.
However, 'Programs and Featuers' still doesn't list anything for the version.
Odd....

Re: Questions on command line build

Hate to revitalize an old thread, but….. I’ve gotten the command line interface to build the exe and converit to an msi. Everything works great, except it’s not picking up the version number that I supply via the command line. Thus, when I install the msi, under ‘Program and Features’, my product is...

Re: Questions on command line build

pgplwiz.exe doesn't seem to understand '/?', it will display a pop-up dialague. So it's guessing at the options to get it right. Have a look at this thread, another member of the forum gives a great example on how to use pgplwiz. http://forums.installaware.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1969 Patrick.

Re: Uninstall using msiexec

Hi. Thanks for the response. That link did help me to understand the issue more. Unfortunately, it will not provide a solution to issue. The msi that needs to be un-intalled is already shipped software. Therefore, I am no longer able to add the UninstallLink variable to the msi. Going foward, this i...

Uninstall using msiexec

Hi. We install/un-install our products using the msiexec tool. Thus, to install: msiexec /i product.msi /quiet /log c:\temp\product_install.log To un-install, however, we use the product code as we can not gaurenttee that we will have the original msi to un-install from. Thus, an example would be: m...

Re: Plugin for Visual Studio 2012

Thanks. I did find the exact version at the link above and after installing it, I now see the 'InstallAware' menu on my visual studio installation.

Re: Plugin for Visual Studio 2012

Hi. I'm back on this again....been busy lately and haven't have time to look into why InstallAware does not show up in Visual Studio for us. I unintalled the s/w and attempted re-installation. We have installed 'Studio', and looking thru the options, the plug-in for Visual Studio is included. HOWEVE...

Re: Plugin for Visual Studio 2012

Thanks for the screen-shots.
I definitely do not have the InstallAware menu.

I will uninstall and re-install the s/w and see if that helps.

Re: Plugin for Visual Studio 2012

InstallAware was installed after VS was, I'm certain of that as I installed InstallAware.

Perhaps it's there and I've just 'missed' it....where in VS would it show up in the menus ?
