Super Slow installation execution...
I have been struggling for years with certain Installs that take an extremely long period of time to appear on screen. The initial IA run progress bar would appear on the screen almost instantaneously, but then, depending on the PC, it could take from 2 minutes to 5 minutes for the first dialog to a...

Re: Error - Could not write value VersionMajor to key
Make sure that you are using a valid version number...
For example:
'v1.2.0.1011' is invalid because it contains an alpha character of 'v'
'1.2.0.1011' is valid because it only contain numeric digits

Re: Perform Uninstallation is not called from Install/Remove MSI
I've been searching for the answers that are somewhat hidden in this post and a few other posts. So I'll summarise them here for any other reader's benefit: A) If a user goes to WIndow's Add/ Remove Programs interface and clicks 'Uninstall', then the code that gets executed in from within your Insta...

Re: How do I edit an Application Runtime I created?
Hi Francesco, Thanks very much for the quick reply. I'm aware of everything that you have quoted either from searching the help file or from trial and error within InstallAware in my attempts to figure this out... however what I really need to know is how I can open up the Application Runtime from w...

How do I edit an Application Runtime I created?
Hoping someone can advise on how to edit an Application Runtime... Here is the background: From within the InstallAware IDE I selected 'New Project' -> 'Application Runtime' I then proceeded to create an Application Runtime via the wizard to install 'Microsoft XML 4 Service Pack 3'. The Application ...

Re: How can I install .Net 3.5 using InstallAware on a Win10 OS ?
Hi Francesco, Well... this is just a little confusing for me in the way InstallAware is working! The MS SQL 2014 Express installer tells me that .Net 3.5 is missing and can't continue (Win7 x86 VM), but I will go back and reinstall my Win7 32 bit VM in order to start fresh with regard to .Net 3.5.1 ...

Re: How can I install .Net 3.5 using InstallAware on a Win10 OS ?
Hi Francesco, Thanks very much for your quick reply. I didn't want to introduce too many confusing variables into the conversation initially, so I intentionally did not talk about the reason that I created this IA Test installation package... Specifically, the problem that I was having with my 'real...

Re: How can I install .Net 3.5 using InstallAware on a Win10 OS ?
Hi Francesco, Thanks for your last reply. I have spent countless hours trying to get this to work and quite simply, it does not. Currently I am using X5. I have even built a simple little IA test project that is supposed to install/enable .Net 3.5.1 on a WIn7 x32 machine, according to your instructi...

How can I install .Net 3.5 using InstallAware on a Win10 OS ?
How can I install .Net 3.5 using InstallAware on a Win10 OS ? Sounds simple, but it is not! This is a significant problem for anyone wanting to install SQL 2014 in their InstallAware installation package on a Win10 OS, because .Net 3.5 is a required SQL prerequisite. Prior versions of SQL included ....

Error during build: Unable to build web media block: Incorrect parameter value
I upgraded to InstallAware X4 yesterday and the very first project that I built threw the error: "Error during build: Unable to build web media block: Incorrect parameter value". error.jpg This is not a new project... in fact it is an existing InstallAware project that is about 10 years ol...

Re: IA Support... Search not working
Hi Francesco, Thank you for your excellent response. I will attempt again to integrate SQLExpress 2014 into my installation package using the detailed information you have provided. To set your mind at ease, please notice that my use of the term 'obtuse' was in reference to the 'bluntness' of the in...

Re: IA Support... Search not working
Hi Bokkie, Well phrased reply! I was so irritated by the obtuseness of Francesco's initial response that I completely missed the fact that the flogging was your suggestion. Now it's just funny! Francesco, my apologies to you for my error on attributing the public flogging to you. Having said that th...

Re: IA Support... Search not working
Hi Francesco, I'm going to assume that you erroniously thought that saying I "should be publicly flogged" for explaining the source of my displeasure and frustration, was in some way funny. Hmmmm... InstallAware made the decision to hire him and I should be publicly flogged for it? Rather ...
